I was a bit disappointed by the new depictions of The Master. It was interesting to learn a little more of his history but I just didn't think that the casting was great. I know that he regenerates just as the Doctor does but I always imagine him the way as he was in the eighties, with that dark hair and beard. The blond guy just did not seem all that menacing to me  |

I agree, they had a good chance to use the character, but it ended up being done too much as an exercise in camera effects and prostheses, with next to no plot!

I know, it's non-canonical heresy... but.. when Roger Delgado first appeared in the pertwee years.. my initial reaction at the time was... "he survived, and escaped the Timelords".
This was a thought I had, as a kid, BEFORE fan fic and the like..
So my own preferred Master is.... The WarChief.
Every single aspect of the character screams "The Master" at you. A pity he didn't continue as that character. Ah well.
