Okay not technically an assistant exactly but she DID go in the TARDIS and she did meet the Doctor on several occasions and in two different incarnations. I don;t quite know if Jackie was supposed to be a loveable, feisty older version or Rose but to be honest I always found her rude, obnoxious and irritating. The version of her in the alternate universe was even worse and I was frankly rather pleased that she met a nasty end, though I won't post spoilers in case anyone here has yet to see it.

I always felt bad for Jackie. She was annoying but in an endearing way. And she always got the shitty end of the stick. I remember once she kissed the Doctor and he wiped his mouth off after. I thought that was pretty cold...

Heh there was that Christmas special where he snubbed her when she said 'there's a strange man in my bedroom. Anything could happen.' Given that he was nine hundred I don't think that he really had the right to be looking askance at her cos she was older than Rose!

I think she is just one of those people who gets pissy when people don't treat her well and the Doctor (at least Christopher Ecclestone) was pretty mean and dismissive to her... frequently!

There was that time when he let everyone else fly the TARDIS but not her  Mind I think that that was Tennant. She wasn't all that likeable though so . |
