I started with the first Christopher Ecclestone ones and have not seen much of the old stuff yet. I think that I saw the very first one with Rose and the Doctor and the plastic monster though.

I think some of the better episodes have been based around the original characters, although they have been leaning too much on the Daleks and Cybermen at times. Some of the new ideas have been very ropey (never allow a monster to be designed in a competition for kids)!

Yes but that does not answer the question THe first episode I can remember watching for definite was Keeper of Traken. I might be spelling that wrongly but it's a Peter Davidson episode on the planet where they first acquire Nyssa as an assistant. I remember being terrified of the Melkor with the glowing red eyes.

I don't remember a specific episode. I do remember Tegan's ending as an assistant, but I know I saw much more before that (often from behind the sofa)!

The first memory I have is from The Mark of the Rani, where Luke gets turned into a tree. I have some vague memories from Colin Baker's last adventure, especially the cliffhanger ending to part 13 of Trial of a Time Lord. Then I remember quite a few Sylvester McCoy episodes. The first one I saw on video was in about 1991/2. It was The Twin Dilemma, and believe it or not, from then onwards, I was hooked.
Jo, you spelt Traken right, but it was Tom Baker's penultimate adventure. It's also Melkur. I'm going to get annoying, aren't I?

Ah you sure? Hmm silly question, I daresay that you are . I did not think that I remembered any Baker from when it was actually screened. I do remember watching Castrovalva tho .. wasn't that Davidson's first?

My ex and I had all of this stuff on video (and some on DVD). Guess who got it when we separated (well I got to keep a couple of COlin Baker's but that was all. To be fair, he had paid for most of it)

I remember watching lots of Tom Baker, but not the specifics. I've probably seen everything from somewhere there once. I have seen a couple of Jon Pertwee since, and even probably have a few episodes on video about somewhere.

"An Unearthl;y Child", although my memory of it as a first watch is very fragmentary. Of course having seen in on video after all those years, more familiar with it again.

I've not seen that in quite a while. I enjoyed it as a scene setting sort of thing but it does not resemble modern day Who in any form

My first episode was The Next Doctor (the Christmas special from 2008 with David Morrissey) - a very confusing first episode, since it's full of inside jokes.

Ah I'd forgotten all about that one. I agree that it's not a good episode to start on but it's still a good one in general.

Horns of the Nimon. Romana in a little riding outfit. I was like, "Whuuuu?" Laugh...it got better, fortunately.
